Mina was the best girl around. She felt she was the fairest, the prettiest, slimmest and most acomplished girl around.
She was twenty two when her younger sister announced she was ready to marry.
Mina was magnanimous and allowed her to get married.
I did not like any body father she told her dad.
her dad always told her she was the best and she had come to beleive it.
No one is good enough for you he used to say.
No one is good enough for me Mina used to say.
Anyway a few years passed and Mina was thrity two.
Her father died and her mother quickly found her a match and married her off.
Of course the man had already been married but Mina's mother wanted to move back with her parents and she did not want Mina to remain unmarried.
Over the years she hated to admit it but she had become scared of her daughter.
Anyway Mina married this man with first marriage kids and she was prepared to show them how good she was.
The family grew tired of her and her husband soon tired of her attitude and resigned himself to having a perfect cook and cleaner and no wife.
Soon Mina had a baby girl who in her opinion could be nothing less than perfect.
She named her Lata.
Lata was beautiful and she also heard this from her mother.
No one is good enough for you Lata.
And so Lata said
No one is good enough for me.
She grew up under her mothers exclusive care.
Oe day Lata did not come back.
A few days later, she sent a letter to her mother.
Mother dont worry about me.
I am married happily now.
I found someone better than me.
But you would not understand anything about that.
