The Almug Tree- strange trees of the bible

Hi All
I am studying 1 Kings today and came across a strange thing.
The queen of Sheba presented King Solomon some scented Almug Trees and the like of which has never been seen since in that area.
I was curious and wondered because it clearly had to be a foreign tree and some googling revealed that the tree is indeed a Red Sandal Tree from South India.
Some say that the Almug is a clove tree.
I love Red Sandal and the brown sandal too.
I lived in South India and I remember everyone in my family having the little wooden flat bases that they would grind the sandal on.
I miss the smell of Sandal here though I have some sachets and figurines that my friend sent me from Bangalore, India.
Does anyone out there know how the Queen of Sheba came across these Red Sandal Trees?
